Understanding how best to support the involvement of traditionally overseen participants in the innovation process is the purpose for which the research project RiConfigure has been established.
When addressing the numerous challenges we as a society face today, it is crucial we find a structure and a policy to involve this diverse group of actors in society’s innovation team. Biases and blind spots are easier to overcome when involving the whole range of society – this means adding a forth leg to the triple helix.
The DNA of innovation could and should consist of: Government, Academia, Industry and Civil Society – the triple helix becomes a quadruple helix.
